Pressing 101: The Key to Perfect DTF Transfers

Good DTF application depends on matching time, temperature and pressure to the transfer and the garment. Use the instructions supplied with your exact transfer and test one on the same blank before a full run.

The Three Key Elements: Time, Pressure, and Temperature

For current Buy Bulk DTF hot-peel transfers, use these settings:

• Temperature: 300°F (about 150°C).
• Pressure: Firm and even across the complete design. On presses that provide a pressure reading, use 60+ PSI.
• Main press: 15 seconds.

Press calibration, garment construction, coatings and heat sensitivity can affect the result. Check the garment care label and confirm that your press applies heat and pressure evenly. A commercial heat press is recommended.

The Pressing Process

1. Prepare the garment. Place it flat and pre-press for 3–5 seconds to flatten it and remove moisture.
2. Position the transfer. Check placement and orientation on the garment.
3. Press. Apply 300°F for 15 seconds with firm, even pressure.
4. Hot peel. Wait 2–3 seconds after opening the press, then peel the carrier smoothly while it is still hot.
5. Finish. Cover the design with parchment or a suitable cover sheet and press again for 5 seconds.
6. Inspect. Check that the sample is fully bonded before pressing the remaining garments.

Let the garment cool fully before handling or packing. For routine care, wash inside out in cold water, then hang dry or tumble dry on low. Avoid bleach and high heat.

These instructions apply to current Buy Bulk DTF hot-peel transfers. Other films and transfer products can use different settings; follow the directions supplied for the exact product.
